Dr. Salazar Ibargüen is head of the Director General General Directorate of the Computing and Information Technologies and Communications and Researcher of the Faculty of Physical Mathematics Sciences at BUAP. His contributions gave evidence of the existence of the Higgs Bosson.

 and made him a creditor of "The 2013 High Energy and Particle Physics Prize", granted by the European Physics Society.

He participates in the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoide) one of the biggest experiments at CERN (Erupean Organization for Nuclear Research), in Geneva, Switzerland, of the High Altitude Water Cherenkov Gamma Ray Observatory (HAWC) and the Pierre Auger Observatory, whose common purpose is to seek a new fundamental laws in Physics.

Salazar Ibargüen also participated in the design, construction and testing of the TUS UV camera (Tracking Ultraviolet Set up, or ultraviolet tracking device), the main scientific instrument installed on the M. Lomonosov Satellite, which was launched on April 28, 2016.

For his outstanding career, he obtained the Medal of Science and Technology "Luis Rivera Terrazas" 2016, in the Basic Science category in the area of Exact and Natural Sciences.
